China Unicom announced that the number of vehicles equipped with its connected vehicle SIM cards has reached 100 million, marking China's establishment of the world’s largest connected vehicle infrastructure. Its self-developed intelligent connected vehicle service platform serves 92 automakers, handling over 2 billion API calls per month. The platform offers high-concurrency, highly reliable integrated network services and has achieved breakthroughs in 18 core proprietary technologies. This platform has become the world’s largest connected vehicle operations and management platform. Achieving connectivity at the scale of hundreds of millions demonstrates China’s global leadership in connected vehicle infrastructure capabilities, technological maturity, and industrial ecosystem development. This advancement supports the coordinated international expansion of the automotive industry chain, facilitates data circulation within the automotive sector, and accelerates integrated vehicle-road-cloud system construction. Intelligent Connected Vehicles (ICVs) integrate onboard sensors, controllers, actuators, and communication network technologies to enable intelligent information exchange among vehicles, people, roads, and cloud systems. At the 2024 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference, the China Society of Automotive Engineers released the top ten global technology trends for ICVs, which include: super artificial intelligence for high-level autonomous driving; high-speed connectivity technologies such as 5G-Advanced, 6G, NR-V2X, and satellite communications; in-vehicle computing-storage integrated chips; domain-wide software-defined vehicle SOA architectures; cloud-vehicle collaborative autonomous driving cloud platforms; crowd-sourced spatiotemporal data self-updating technologies; next-generation intelligent chassis; multimodal in-cabin AI agents on the edge side; modular, intrinsically intelligent vehicle operating systems; and comprehensive system-wide security technologies.
