The 2026 Beijing Auto Show has concluded, but its impact on the automotive industry continues to unfold. This year’s event shifted its core focus from traditional hardware to automotive software and large AI models, with AI agents taking center stage. Numerous automakers and supply chain companies are accelerating the large-scale deployment of AI agents in vehicles, driving intelligent cockpits to evolve from basic “listening and speaking” capabilities toward “hand-eye coordination.” At the show, Banma Intelligence unveiled its “Yuanshen Xiaoju” AI agent, emphasizing enhanced user experience while ensuring driving safety. Horizon Robotics launched an operating system named “KaKaClaw,” featuring proactive service capabilities. These AI agents aim to address two fundamental challenges of in-vehicle systems: being truly understood by users and effectively getting things done. They mark a step toward transforming vehicles into embodied intelligent terminals capable of perception, reasoning, and autonomous action, while also adapting to specific scenarios to unlock the value of in-cabin space. However, real-world user experiences often fall short of promotional claims. Some users reported delayed or unresponsive voice interactions, and the practical relevance of certain features—such as watching short videos or controlling smart home devices from the car—has been questioned. Moreover, widespread adoption of AI agents faces significant hurdles, including computational costs, token expenses, data privacy, and security concerns. With severe hardware homogenization intensifying competition among automakers, AI agents are increasingly seen as a critical pathway to differentiation and intelligent transformation. Yet the industry must ground its efforts in genuine user needs, uphold safety as a non-negotiable baseline, and prioritize tangible improvements in user experience—avoiding the risk of turning AI agents into mere marketing gimmicks.
