On May 9, Li Auto announced that its all-new Li L9 will officially launch on May 15. It has been four years since the debut of the first-generation model, marking a relatively long product cycle. Li Xiang, founder and CEO of Li Auto, stated that the automotive industry concerns life safety and differs fundamentally from consumer electronics, requiring extensive validation and prolonged, repeated testing. The company conducts extensive teardowns of road-test vehicles to rigorously verify whether they meet design specifications. Li noted that acquiring a sufficient number of test vehicles covering substantial mileage and diverse, complex driving conditions takes considerable time. Although AI technology has found some application in testing and validation, its impact on improving real-vehicle validation efficiency remains limited. Therefore, Li Auto must invest more time in product iteration to ensure safety and reliability.
