Apple has added Great Wall Motor's SUV brand "WEY" to the backend system of its CarKey digital car key feature. An official announcement is expected once the related integration work is completed. CarKey, introduced by Apple at WWDC 2020, allows users to unlock or lock their vehicles automatically via NFC technology when approaching the car door, and start the vehicle directly from inside—all through the Wallet app on their iPhone or Apple Watch, replacing traditional physical keys. The feature currently supports select models from numerous Chinese automotive brands, including NIO, XPeng, Zeekr, BYD, Denza, Hongqi, Onvo, Lynk & Co, Exeed, Yangwang, Fangchengbao, Voyah, and Chery.
