On May 9, SAIC Volkswagen’s first sedan in the ID.ERA series, the 5S, made its debut in the new product announcement of the 407th batch of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's "Announcement on Road Motor Vehicle Manufacturers and Products." The vehicle measures 4,836 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,505 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,766 mm. It features a plug-in hybrid powertrain combining a 1.5T engine—delivering a maximum net power of 77 kW—with an electric drive motor rated at 57.6 kW and a peak output of 130 kW. As Volkswagen’s first plug-in hybrid intelligent family sedan and also the brand’s first globally launched sedan equipped with urban NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) advanced driver-assistance capabilities, the 5S will come standard with the “Xingyun SmartDrive” advanced driver-assistance system and the “Yunqi Smart Cabin” intelligent cockpit.
