Seres Powertrain's Changshou Plant and FAW Foundry & Forging—a subsidiary of China FAW Group—have each invested 50% to jointly build and co-operate a powertrain production line, pioneering a deeply integrated manufacturing model in China’s automotive industry characterized by “one production line, co-operated by two companies.” Under this model, employees from both parties work side by side on the shop floor, with tasks simultaneously assigned through a unified system. Castings are processed and then directly fed into the assembly process, enabling a “one-stop” flow from raw casting to finished product and reducing response time from two days to just a few hours. Previously, the two companies maintained only a conventional upstream-downstream buyer-seller relationship. Additionally, in June 2023, CATL launched two CTP 2.0 high-end battery pack production lines at Seres’ Super Factory using an “embedded factory” (“factory-within-a-factory”) model to locally supply battery systems for the Aito vehicle series.
