Tesla Model 3 Battery Degrades 34.2% After 610,000 km

From:Internet Info Agency 2026-05-10 21:36:09

A seven-year-old Tesla Model 3, with approximately 612,000 kilometers on the odometer and still equipped with its original battery pack, has seen its real-world full-charge range drop from about 386.2 kilometers when new to roughly 254.3 kilometers—a reduction of approximately 131.9 kilometers, representing a 34.2% decline in range. During a controlled highway test at a constant speed of around 109.4 km/h, the vehicle traveled about 222.6 kilometers before its battery was fully depleted, consuming 32.4 kWh of energy—significantly less than the roughly 49 kWh consumed under similar conditions when the car was new. Despite the substantial battery degradation, the vehicle experienced no major malfunctions or unexpected power losses during operation and remains suitable for short commutes and daily urban driving. With a total mileage roughly double the average scrappage distance of conventional vehicles, this case demonstrates the long-term reliability of electric vehicles while also highlighting battery degradation as an inherent technical challenge.
