In April 2026, national passenger vehicle market data showed that BYD ranked first domestically with retail sales of 182,025 units, while Xiaomi Auto secured fifth place with retail sales of 36,702 units, surpassing its official delivery target of 30,000 units. Total retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles (NEVs) reached 849,000 units that month, down 6.8% year-over-year and slightly down 0.3% month-over-month. However, the retail penetration rate of NEVs in the overall passenger vehicle market reached 61.4%, up 9.7 percentage points year-over-year and 9.6 percentage points month-over-month. In terms of exports, BYD exported 130,042 vehicles in the month, followed by Chery Automobile with 57,910 units and Tesla China with 53,522 units. Geely Auto and SAIC Motor also maintained strong performance in overseas markets.
