In December 2024, a social media user named "Gao Shou Lu Tai Wan" posted unverified claims on a social platform alleging poor wiring harness quality in Xiaomi vehicles. These statements negatively impacted the brand reputation of Xiaomi Technology Co., Ltd. Xiaomi filed a lawsuit alleging defamation of character. After reviewing the case, the Beijing Internet Court determined that the user’s posts were seriously inconsistent with the facts and constituted an infringement upon Xiaomi’s right to reputation, holding the user liable for the tort. Pursuant to the effective court judgment, the user issued a written apology statement on May 9, 2026, acknowledging that the statements were false and formally apologizing to Xiaomi Technology. The apology has been publicly posted on the original platform. The incident spanned approximately one and a half years, from the initial dissemination of the false information to the public apology.
