Li Xiang, CEO of Li Auto, recently unveiled the company's self-developed Mach M100 chip along with supporting products such as supercomputing daughterboards and motherboards. Responding to external criticism that the company is merely "burning money to follow trends," Li emphasized that Li Auto's chip development is not about showcasing technical prowess or blindly chasing industry fads, but rather about addressing limitations in existing suppliers' technologies and enabling AI to truly operate and scale in the physical world. Li stated that Li Auto aims to deliver an Apple-like user experience, which hinges on end-to-end in-house design integrating hardware and software—spanning self-developed chips, operating systems, large AI models, and hardware. He noted that Apple’s superior user experience stems not from excelling in any single technology, but from seamless synergy across all components without weak links. He further explained that in the AI era, competition is no longer about individual technologies; instead, it centers on holistic co-design capabilities encompassing chip architecture, operating systems, AI models, compilers, hardware design, and manufacturing technologies. Only by achieving excellence across all these dimensions—"all-around mastery"—can a company ultimately win in user experience.
