On the evening of May 13, BYD officially unveiled its YunNian-P Ultra technology, which will debut on the Yangwang U8 and the fast-charging version of the Yangwang U5. This technology features wheel-lifting and tire-changing capabilities, as well as a wheel-lifting escape function. In the event of a blowout, the Blowout Emergency Stabilization System ensures immediate safety and enables three-wheel driving (limited to 15 km/h for continuous operation). The vehicle can complete an airborne tire change in under three minutes, with all four wheels supporting independent lifting for off-road recovery. YunNian-P Ultra supports full-scenario adjustable ride height with a total adjustment range of 200 mm—lowering by up to 90 mm in ultra-low mode and raising by up to 110 mm in ultra-high mode. The system boasts a lifting capacity of 9 metric tons, allowing a single Yangwang U8 to simultaneously lift itself plus two Yangwang T3 vehicles, and handle inclines of up to 45 degrees. Moreover, the Yangwang U5 and U8 fast-charging models equipped with this technology can operate in extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C to 85°C. Featuring nearly 2 square meters of cooling surface area, they support sustained off-road performance in high-temperature conditions and offer robust impact resistance, making them suitable for complex terrains such as jump ramps.
