2026 TEDA Auto Forum to Convene in Tianjin in September, Focused on "Intelligent & Green Foundations, Ecosystem Momentum, Shared Success"

On May 13, 2026, the press conference for the 22nd China Automotive Industry Development (TEDA) International Forum was held in Beijing. An Tiecheng, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Automotive Technology & Research Center Co., Ltd. (CATARC), announced that this year’s forum will take place from September 17 to 20, 2026, in Binhai New Area, Tianjin, under the annual theme “Intelligent & Green Foundation, Ecosystem Momentum, Co-Creation and Shared Success.” Guided by the concept of “Content Empowers Intelligence, Brand Enhances Impact,” the forum will launch four innovative initiatives: 1) Establishing “Four Thematic Days” covering scenarios, technology, policy, and industry; 2) Building a think tank matrix comprising flagship reports and specialized reports; 3) Designing agenda topics based on ecological integration, innovative collaboration, and global development; and 4) Partnering with CCTV.com to co-create signature segments that amplify high-level insights. At the press conference, several representatives delivered keynote remarks. Zhao Lijin, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Society of Automotive Engineers, noted that automotive technological innovation is shifting from performance optimization to systemic restructuring, requiring a holistic approach to build an open, co-creative ecosystem. He Yi, Executive Deputy Secretary-General of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, emphasized the need to unlock domestic consumption potential, strengthen core technology R&D, and strategically coordinate domestic and international markets. Xie Rongbin, Party Secretary of China Energy Automotive Communication Group Co., Ltd., stated that the 15th Five-Year Plan period represents a critical window for China to become an automotive powerhouse, necessitating an industrial framework centered on technological self-reliance, premium branding, and green intelligence. Jin Xianghua, Deputy Director of the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA) Administrative Committee, shared that the zone’s three major automakers have completed “dual-fuel-and-electric” production line deployments, with accelerated implementation of component projects, and will collaborate with CATARC on standard-setting and green international expansion. Xu Yanhua, Secretary-General of the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance, revealed that cumulative sales of power and energy storage batteries reached 4,088.5 GWh during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021–2025), with exports accounting for nearly 20% in 2025; lithium battery production and sales are projected to more than double by 2030 compared to 2025 levels.
