In April 2026, China's used vehicle transaction volume reached 1.6712 million units, down 6.73% month-over-month and down 1.76% year-over-year, with a total transaction value of RMB 113.476 billion. From January to April 2026, the cumulative used vehicle transaction volume nationwide totaled 6.4932 million units, an increase of 2.93% year-over-year (up by 184,600 units compared to the same period last year), with a cumulative transaction value of RMB 426.358 billion. By vehicle type, in April, basic passenger cars accounted for 895,000 units sold, down 7.58% month-over-month and down 6.73% year-over-year; SUVs recorded 220,700 units, down 6.57% month-over-month and down 2.13% year-over-year; MPVs totaled 119,500 units, down 6.13% month-over-month but up 7.92% year-over-year; and crossover passenger vehicles reached 40,400 units, down 7.19% month-over-month and down 7.02% year-over-year. In the commercial vehicle segment, bus transactions amounted to 99,900 units in April, down 6.82% month-over-month but up 6.63% year-over-year; truck transactions totaled 143,300 units, down 6.63% month-over-month and down 2.89% year-over-year. From January to April, cumulative passenger car transactions reached 4.9882 million units, down 0.62% year-over-year. Specifically, basic passenger cars totaled 3.5109 million units, down 2.65% year-over-year; SUVs reached 862,100 units, up 2.40% year-over-year; MPVs totaled 458,400 units, up 11.49% year-over-year; and crossover passenger vehicles amounted to 156,800 units, down 2.01% year-over-year. Commercial vehicle transactions from January to April totaled 943,500 units, up 9.03% year-over-year, including 556,400 trucks (up 8.51% year-over-year) and 387,100 buses (up 9.79% year-over-year). By region, in April, East China led the nation with 472,200 units transacted, down 5.41% month-over-month; Central-South China reported 460,900 units, down 8.25%; North China recorded 259,800 units, down 6.18%; Southwest China saw 231,400 units, down 6.07%; Northeast China transacted 149,200 units, down 8.86%—the largest decline nationwide; and Northwest China recorded 97,800 units, down 5.38%—the smallest decline among all regions.
