Tesla rolled out the first Cybercab autonomous electric vehicle at its Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, on February 17, 2024, and plans to begin mass production in April. Despite losing two key executives in late February and late March—Project Manager Victor Nechita and Mark Lupkey, who oversaw assembly processes and final inspection validation—the mass production effort continues to move forward. Recent aerial footage shows more than 70 Cybercabs parked across three distinct areas within the factory, with additional vehicles seen driving around the site, indicating that testing is also underway. This marks a significant increase from the approximately 40 units observed in aerial images taken on May 8, signaling an acceleration in production progress.
