Intel announced on May 14 a multi-year strategic partnership with the McLaren Formula 1 team. Under the agreement, Intel will become the Official Computing Partner of the McLaren Mastercard F1 Team, the Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team, and the McLaren F1 Sim Racing Team. The collaboration includes Intel providing computing systems based on Xeon and Core Ultra processors to support high-performance computing workloads such as aerodynamic simulations, computational fluid dynamics, vehicle dynamics modeling, and race strategy analysis. F1 engineering teams handle vast amounts of performance-critical workloads daily, ranging from real-time track data to extensive post-race data analytics. Currently, AI tools, low-latency edge computing solutions, and diverse software platforms are widely used to optimize racing performance. Meanwhile, AMD has been collaborating with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team since 2020, utilizing EPYC and Threadripper processors to meet similar technical demands.
