On May 15, Stellantis N.V. and Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly produce new Peugeot and Jeep models in China for sale in global markets. The two parties also signed a non-binding Strategic Memorandum of Understanding aimed at further strengthening their collaboration by leveraging their respective strengths in scale, expertise, and R&D capabilities. Under the agreement, subject to necessary approvals and the execution of definitive implementation agreements, Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën Automobile Company Limited (DPCA) will initially launch production of two new energy vehicles at its Wuhan plant starting in 2027. These models will be based on the design language of Peugeot’s Concept 6 Shuairui and Concept 8 Liuming concept cars unveiled at the 2026 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition. The vehicles will serve both the Chinese market and overseas markets, supporting Peugeot’s global growth strategy. The agreement also includes plans to initially produce two new energy off-road models under the Jeep brand at the same Wuhan facility from 2027 onward, with these products also destined for global markets. The total investment in the project exceeds RMB 8 billion, of which Stellantis will contribute approximately €130 million (equivalent to roughly RMB 1.032 billion). The implementation of the project remains subject to customary closing conditions, including economic feasibility, commercial operating terms, execution of relevant agreements, and regulatory approvals.
