On May 15, Stellantis Group and Dongfeng Motor Corporation Limited signed a strategic cooperation agreement to deepen their partnership, which has spanned 34 years. Under the agreement, the joint venture Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën Automobile Company Limited (DPCA) plans to produce two new energy vehicles under the Peugeot brand and two new energy off-road models under the Jeep brand at its Wuhan plant starting in 2027, with these vehicles targeting global markets. The new models will adopt the design language unveiled by Peugeot at the 2026 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition through its new concept cars. The two parties also signed a non-binding Strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aiming to further expand collaboration by leveraging their respective strengths in scale, expertise, and R&D capabilities. The total investment in the project exceeds RMB 8 billion, with Stellantis contributing approximately €130 million. Implementation of the project is subject to economic viability, satisfactory commercial terms, execution of definitive agreements, fulfillment of customary closing conditions, and receipt of regulatory approvals. Supportive industrial policies from Hubei Province and Wuhan Municipality for the automotive sector will further facilitate the project.
