The 2026 Yangwang Business Institute Thousand-People Conference was held in Shenzhen on May 15. Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD Group and Dean of the Yangwang Business Institute, stated at the event that this is the best historical period for Chinese enterprises—especially those in manufacturing—to build world-class brands. He noted that BYD is currently facing a severe battery shortage, and multiple brand models—including Dynasty, Ocean, Denza, and Yangwang—are in the ramp-up phase due to insufficient battery production capacity. He expects the company’s monthly sales to continue growing as battery capacity gradually comes online. Wang also mentioned that roughly half of his meetings are technology-related and emphasized that technology enables companies to see further and deeper, thereby formulating more precise strategies. He believes technology should first serve strategy and only then products, and that enterprises must rely on technology and innovation to build strong brands. Additionally, he described competition as the “universal key” to corporate development, asserting that whether it comes from external or internal sources, competition drives survival of the fittest and ensures a company’s true resilience.
