On May 18, Elon Musk stated via video link at the "Smart Mobility Summit" in Tel Aviv that autonomous vehicles are expected to see broader deployment across the United States later this year. He noted that three cities in Texas have already enabled driverless cars to operate without human safety oversight and said this model will expand nationwide by the end of the year. Musk further predicted that within five to ten years, approximately 90% of vehicle miles traveled will be covered by AI-driven autonomous cars, making human-driven vehicles a niche activity.
