On May 18, the WEY V9X officially launched globally with a starting price of RMB 349,800, positioning itself as an “AI Luxury Six-Seater Flagship.” During the launch event’s dialogue session, Great Wall Motor Chairman Wei Jianjun expressed his greatest concern: product delivery issues that could lead to “disasters” post-launch. He candidly shared three key worries: first, customers spending hundreds of thousands of yuan might not receive the expected experience; second, minor oversights in product details could damage the V9X’s reputation and undermine consumer trust in Chinese premium brands; and third, disappointing users who have chosen and trusted the WEY brand. Previously, the Haval H8 had its launch delayed twice—despite technical teams believing most users wouldn’t notice a subtle rear-axle vibration detected during testing—resulting in losses exceeding RMB 10 billion. Wei insisted on the principle of “never treating customers as test subjects.” The WEY V9X is Great Wall Motor’s flagship model developed over six years, built on the Guiyuan S platform. It offers three variants—Executive Long Wheelbase, Luxury Family, and Luxury Long Wheelbase—to serve both high-end business and family travel scenarios. All trims feature a 2.0T Super Hi4 hybrid powertrain, delivering 0–100 km/h acceleration in under 4 seconds whether fully charged or in low-battery (WLTC) mode. The WLTC-rated fuel consumption in low-battery mode is 6.3 L/100 km, while CLTC-rated combined range reaches 1,700 km. The chassis includes dual-chamber air suspension and 20° rear-wheel steering. Its intelligent system integrates dual VLA large models, and the body structure comprises 88.8% high-strength steel and alloys, with peak strength reaching 2,200 MPa. As founder, Wei Jianjun personally serves as the lifelong spokesperson for the WEY V9X—eschewing celebrity endorsements—and has tied his personal reputation directly to the vehicle’s quality. At launch, limited-time purchase incentives were introduced, including a RMB 5,000 deposit credit redeemable for RMB 10,000, a RMB 10,000 trade-in bonus for existing Great Wall brand owners, an RMB 8,000 discount for owners of other brands, and a 3-year 0% interest financing option. The V9X enters an increasingly competitive premium six-seater market segment.
