On June 30, a supplier technology exchange event focusing on intelligent chassis and by-wire technologies, hydrogen-electric power systems and energy efficiency optimization, intelligent cockpits and human-machine interaction, as well as lightweighting and safety technologies for commercial vehicles was held at Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. (Foton). Multiple suppliers engaged in in-depth discussions with Foton’s R&D and procurement teams. Established in 1996 and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 1998, Foton is China's most comprehensive and largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in terms of product portfolio and industrial scale. The company operates across four core business segments: complete vehicles and mobile equipment, components, digital technology, and commercial ecosystems. Its products are exported to over 130 countries and regions worldwide. Foton’s development has progressed through several key phases: from 1996 to 1999, it achieved “three major steps in four years”; between 2000 and 2009, it implemented a “New Three-Step” strategy, expanding nationwide and beginning its globalization journey; from 2010 to 2021, it entered a global development phase, becoming a “dual-independent” commercial vehicle enterprise with cumulative sales surpassing ten million units; and in 2022, it launched its “Second Entrepreneurial Journey,” completed a brand refresh, and entered a new stage of high-quality development. In 2025, Foton achieved total vehicle sales of 650,000 units, an increase of 5.9% year-over-year, and reported revenue of RMB 61.247 billion, up 28.41% year-over-year. Among these, new energy commercial vehicle sales reached 101,200 units, surging 87.21% year-over-year, while overseas sales totaled 164,500 units, placing Foton among the top Chinese commercial vehicle exporters. In 2026, Foton will advance its strategic implementation around four core capabilities: technological R&D, product innovation, ecosystem building, and global operations. In intelligent technologies, the company will prioritize by-wire chassis, autonomous driving, and intelligent cockpits. In the new energy segment, Foton will pursue a three-pronged approach encompassing battery electric, hydrogen fuel cell, and hybrid technologies, targeting 200,000 new energy vehicle sales and 200,000 units in exports. Regarding industrial ecosystems, Foton aims to drive synergy across the entire value chain and strengthen its global competitiveness. This technology alignment event was designed to precisely match Foton’s technical upgrade roadmap and supply chain requirements, fostering collaborative innovation in electrification, intelligence, and internationalization.
