Recently, spy photos of what appears to be a long-wheelbase version of the Leapmotor C16 have surfaced. The front half of the test vehicle closely resembles the current C16, but features a noticeably extended wheelbase and third-row cabin space, along with a significantly lengthened rear overhang. Despite heavy camouflage, the A-, B-, and C-pillar designs remain similar to those of the standard C16. The front fascia adopts the same design language as the updated C16, featuring new split-type headlights and retaining the lower air intake grille. At the rear, it continues Leapmotor’s signature full-width taillight design, and the visible exhaust layout confirms it remains an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV). According to official filings for the updated C16, the EREV variant continues to use a 1.5L range-extender system. The engine delivers a maximum output of 70 kW, while the drive motor’s peak power has been increased from 170 kW to 200 kW. The top speed is rated at 180 km/h, and its WLTC pure-electric range reaches 185 km—surpassing the current versions offering 134 km and 182 km. The battery-electric variant now uniformly uses a single motor, with maximum output upgraded from either 215 kW or 220 kW to 230 kW, paired with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. The Leapmotor C16 was launched on June 18, 2025, offered in both five- and six-seat configurations. Positioned as a midsize SUV, it carries a price range of RMB 151,800 to RMB 181,800. As of October 29, 2025, cumulative deliveries have exceeded 100,000 units, securing the top spot in sales among mid-to-large SUVs priced under RMB 200,000 for 14 consecutive months.
