On May 19, Eric Xu, Huawei’s Rotating Chairman, and Jin Yuzhi, Senior Vice President of Huawei and CEO of Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), visited Dongfeng Motor Corporation’s headquarters. On the same day, Dongfeng’s M-Hero and eπ brands officially launched an upgraded “Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation 2.0” initiative with Huawei’s Intelligent Automotive Solution BU (IAS BU). A ceremony was also held to award the “Huawei Qiankun Full-Stack Native Co-Creation Gold Team” designation to key product teams from both sides. This milestone marks a new phase in their partnership—centered on co-developing products, co-building brands, and achieving mutual success within a shared ecosystem. During the visit, Xu and his delegation toured Dongfeng’s R&D Center, experiencing vehicles from the M-Hero and eπ brands firsthand and reviewing the latest achievements in vehicle design. Xu stated that HIMA will commit high-quality resources to jointly support the development of Dongfeng’s M-Hero and eπ brands. Both the eπ X9, scheduled for launch this year, and the new M-Hero model will be equipped with Huawei’s latest Qiankun intelligent driving technology. Previously, in May 2023, Dongfeng Motor and Huawei signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement focused on automotive intelligence, enterprise digitalization, and ecosystem co-construction, initiating deep collaboration in areas such as intelligent driving assistance, smart cockpits, intelligent vehicle control, connected vehicles, and electric components. Key outcomes have already been delivered: In August 2023, the world’s first full-stack Huawei-powered intelligent off-road SUV—the Dongfeng M-Hero M817—was launched; in September, the Dongfeng-Huawei Joint Innovation Lab was inaugurated; in November, the Nissan Teana Harmony Cockpit—the world’s first gasoline-powered vehicle featuring Huawei’s HarmonyOS cockpit—debuted, alongside the official unveiling of the Huawei Qiankun | eπ brand, whose first model made its public debut in April 2024. In April 2024, the Dongfeng Fengxing Xinghai V6, equipped with Huawei Qiankun intelligent driving technology, was showcased at the Beijing Auto Show. In May, Dongfeng launched the eπ M8, a large six-seater SUV powered by Huawei Qiankun technology. Additionally, starting in 2024, Voyah—a premium EV brand under Dongfeng—has begun rolling out models featuring both HarmonyOS Cockpit and Huawei Qiankun intelligent driving systems. By 2025, all Voyah models will be equipped with these technologies, including the all-new Voyah FREE+, Zhiyin, 2026 Dreamer, Zhuiguang L, Taishan, and Dreamer Shanhe. Voyah also plans to introduce the Taishan X8 and its first coupe SUV, FE, both featuring Huawei Qiankun technology, later in 2024.
