On May 21, Xiaomi Auto officially clarified the off-road capabilities of the Xiaomi YU7 GT. Positioned as a grand-touring sports SUV rather than a dedicated hardcore off-roader, the YU7 GT is not recommended for high-intensity off-roading or extreme scenarios such as steep incline traversals. For everyday driving, however, the YU7 GT is well-equipped to handle common challenging road conditions, including unpaved roads, slippery narrow paths, and bumpy mountain trails. It features a closed-loop dual-chamber air suspension system, offering a maximum ground clearance of 219 mm to help minimize the risk of underbody scraping. Additionally, it is equipped with an eLSD (electronic limited-slip differential) that detects wheel slip within milliseconds and automatically redistributes torque to wheels with better traction, enhancing stability during acceleration and driving on slippery or low-grip surfaces, as well as improving vehicle recovery capability in difficult terrain. The vehicle also comes standard with an anti-scrape front cross member and a battery pack protected by bullet-resistant coating, designed to safeguard the battery and reduce wear and repair risks. Xiaomi Auto reminds drivers to reduce speed and carefully observe road conditions when navigating complex terrain to ensure safe driving. Further detailed specifications and performance information were unveiled during the official launch event on the evening of May 21.
