Maruti Suzuki India has commenced commercial production on its second manufacturing line at the Kharkhoda facility in Haryana, adding an annual capacity of 250,000 units to produce the mid-size SUV Victoris and the compact SUV Brezza. This brings the plant’s total annual capacity to 500,000 units. The company now operates four manufacturing facilities in India—Gurugram, Manesar, and Kharkhoda in Haryana, and Hansalpur in Gujarat. With the new Kharkhoda line operational, Maruti Suzuki’s total annual production capacity in India has increased to 2.65 million units. As planned, the fourth production line at the Hansalpur plant is scheduled to start operations in the first half of the current fiscal year, adding another 250,000 units of annual capacity and raising the group’s total capacity in India to 2.9 million units—on track to achieve its target of adding 500,000 units of capacity by FY2026–27. The Kharkhoda manufacturing facility was inaugurated by India’s Prime Minister in August 2022, with a planned ultimate annual capacity of 1 million units, which upon completion will make it one of Suzuki’s largest global production bases. In FY2025, Maruti Suzuki produced 2.347 million vehicles in India and exported 448,000 units to markets including Africa, Japan, and Europe—an impressive 135% year-on-year increase in exports. The company stated that this expansion aims to meet growing domestic demand in India and strengthen its position as a global export hub. It will continue advancing its capacity expansion plans with the goal of establishing a 4-million-unit annual production system.
