Recently, a real-world Mercedes-Benz VLE was spotted at a service area on a Chinese expressway. The vehicle’s rear bears the “Fujian Benz” badge along with “VLE 400 4MATIC” lettering. Its overall rear design closely matches the official overseas images released earlier, featuring distinctive ring-shaped taillights. However, the badge application appears somewhat haphazard, with some letters misaligned, making it difficult to definitively confirm the vehicle’s identity—it could potentially be a test prototype or an imported model temporarily fitted with these labels. The front fascia is partially obscured by a tow truck but reveals a large, closed-off shield-shaped grille adorned with extensive chrome accents, multi-spoke wheels, and flush-mounted door handles. According to official interior images, the new model features a panoramic triple-screen setup, ambient lighting encircling the cabin, and offers multiple configurations for the center console island and seating layouts. As an MPV, its seats support the “Roll & Go” function, enabling free sliding, quick removal, and mobility via integrated rollers to enhance interior space flexibility. Powering the VLE is an 800V high-voltage architecture, offered in two variants: the VLE 300 and the VLE 400 4MATIC. The former uses a single front-mounted motor producing 200 kW, while the latter employs a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivering a combined output of 305 kW. Initial models will be equipped with a 115 kWh ternary lithium battery pack. Given the “Fujian Benz” badge on the rear, both the VLE 300 and VLE 400 4MATIC are expected to enter localized production in China.
