On May 23, the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) and the National Supervisory Commission announced that Xu Liuping, Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group, Vice Chairman, and First Secretary of the Secretariat of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, is suspected of serious violations of discipline and law and is currently undergoing disciplinary review and supervisory investigation by the CCDI and the National Supervisory Commission. Xu Liuping began his career in the ordnance and equipment sector and later spent a long time working in the automotive industry. He previously served as Chairman of Changan Automobile, during which he spearheaded the establishment of an independent R&D system and joint venture collaborations. In 2017, Xu was transferred to become Chairman and Party Secretary of China FAW Group Corporation, where he promoted organizational restructuring and prioritized the revitalization of the Hongqi (Red Flag) brand. In 2023, Xu left frontline corporate roles and assumed the position of Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions. Prior to this, Xu Jianyi, former Chairman of FAW Group, had already been investigated.
