Xiaomi YU7 GT Sees Surge in Resold Orders After Launch as Sellers Profit via "Voided Order" Cashback Scheme

Xiaomi Auto officially launched its YU7 GT model on the evening of May 21, with an official starting price of RMB 389,900. Following the launch, the number of reservations for test drives surged significantly, with weekend slots almost fully booked. Meanwhile, numerous second-hand trading platforms quickly saw a flood of listings offering to transfer YU7 GT orders, with some sellers labeling their posts as “official channel, order transfer supported” or “RMB 5,000 cashback upon placing an order.” According to investigations, these sellers provide so-called “voided orders” (or “废单”) for buyers to use. Buyers place orders through the Xiaomi Auto app under these accounts and receive RMB 5,000 in cashback after taking delivery of the vehicle, effectively paying only RMB 15,000 in deposit (down from the original RMB 20,000). Sellers claim this practice leverages Xiaomi Auto’s “voided order activation” mechanism: once the original buyer locks in a new car order, the deposit from their previous order is refunded via the original payment method, and the seller then returns RMB 5,000 of that refund to the new buyer. Some car owners said they accidentally selected non-refundable “near-ready” configurations and had no choice but to attempt transferring their orders to minimize losses. The “voided orders” held by dealers mainly come from two sources: first, original buyers who changed plans and abandoned vehicle pickup, opting instead to sell their allocations at a discount; second, scalpers who stockpiled early allocation quotas and are now selling them amid shifting market demand. Multiple Xiaomi Auto sales representatives confirmed such practices exist and said they could help verify whether a seller genuinely holds a “voided order.” However, they emphasized that any cashback arrangements are private transactions and not endorsed by the company. In response, Xiaomi Auto’s official customer service stated that the “voided order activation” mechanism is not an official company policy—it may stem from actions by offline stores—and stressed that the company provides no guarantees or assumes any liability for such private transactions.
