According to Xiaomi Auto, the dual-valve continuously variable damping shock absorbers equipped on the YU7 GT differ significantly from single-valve solutions. In a single-valve setup, compression and rebound damping share one electromagnetic valve for adjustment—offering faster response but causing coupling between the two directions, which limits ultimate performance. This configuration strikes a balance between comfort and sportiness suitable for daily driving and is currently used in Xiaomi’s “Jiaolong Chassis.” In contrast, the YU7 GT’s dual-valve continuously variable damping shock absorbers feature independent electromagnetic valves for compression and rebound, decoupling damping control in both directions. This delivers three key improvements: greater tuning flexibility, faster overall response, and more precise control. During real-world driving, when encountering bumps, the compression valve actively reduces damping for smoother impact absorption, while the rebound valve maintains sufficient damping to stabilize the body—significantly enhancing both ride isolation and body control. The YU7 Pro and Max trims are equipped with dual-chamber, single-valve continuously variable damping air suspension, balancing comfort and sportiness. The YU7 GT, targeting higher performance, adopts a dual-chamber, dual-valve configuration, offering a wider dynamic range and further refined chassis feel. Regarding concerns about whether exterior modifications affect range, the company stated that while enhancing the YU7 GT’s sporty aesthetics, aerodynamic optimizations were also implemented, contributing to its CLTC-rated range of 705 km. Specifically, the integrated front lip spoiler features optimized curvature to guide airflow around the front end, increasing high-speed range by approximately 2 km. The rear active diffuser offers two-position adjustment: when deployed, it boosts high-speed range by about 3 km; when retracted, it increases rear-axle downforce by up to 6 kg.
