In April 2026, China's consumer market remained stable, with steady growth in sales of essential daily necessities. Retail sales of grain, oil, food, and apparel & footwear from enterprises above the designated size rose by 4.1% and 3.6% year-on-year, respectively. Demand for green and smart products remained robust, and the government’s trade-in policy for consumer goods effectively boosted sales in related categories. According to Ministry of Commerce big data, sales of smart glasses on major platforms surged by 5.9 times year-on-year that month, while sales of handheld cameras, smart blood glucose monitors, and Grade-1 energy-efficiency washing machines increased by 26.9%, 12.3%, and 10.4%, respectively. The market penetration rate of new energy passenger vehicles reached 61.4%, exceeding 60% for the first time.
