From January to April 2026, Russia's passenger car market showed signs of recovery. Chinese-branded passenger vehicles performed notably well, capturing a 40% market share under standard statistical definitions; when including locally produced models and cross-border traded vehicles, their actual market penetration exceeded 54%. During the same period, driven by consumption upgrading, sales of mid-to-high-end models increased as a share of total volume. The new energy vehicle (NEV) market remains in its early development stage but holds significant growth potential. The commercial vehicle segment remained generally stable, with Chinese automakers commanding over 70% market share in key sub-segments such as heavy-duty trucks. Among major players, passenger car brands like Great Wall, Chery, and Geely, along with commercial vehicle manufacturers FAW Jiefang and Sinotruk, all achieved remarkable sales results. As Sino-Russian automotive industry cooperation continues to deepen, Chinese automakers are poised to further expand their market share in Russia.
