The Volvo S100 and XC100 (internally codenamed V561 and V556, respectively) may be produced at the Daqing manufacturing plant. The facility currently produces models including the S90, S60, EX90, and ES90, with the S90 being exclusively manufactured there for global markets. According to Volvo’s naming convention, the “V” denotes vehicles built on next-generation architectures such as SPA2, while the leading digit “5” signifies the mid-to-large vehicle segment. Therefore, the S100 and XC100 are expected to be all-new mid-to-large-size sedan and SUV, positioned above the current S90 and XC90. The Daqing plant already has the capability to produce mid-to-large and large vehicles and export them overseas.
