On May 27, 2026, Geely Holding Group’s battery business unit, JiYao Mobility, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with ZEISS in Quzhou, Zhejiang Province. The two parties will collaborate on quality control throughout the entire battery lifecycle, jointly advancing quality standards and inspection technologies to support JiYao Mobility in building global quality assurance capabilities. JiYao Mobility specializes in the development of high-safety, high-performance lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. It offers two major product lines—“Golden Brick” and “Wu Shuang”—covering diverse application scenarios such as daily driving, battery-swapping ecosystems, and energy storage. The company is rapidly expanding into overseas markets, including Europe and Southeast Asia. Facing varying quality standards and stringent testing requirements across different regions, JiYao Mobility urgently needs to enhance product consistency, safety, and traceability. With 180 years of expertise in precision measurement, ZEISS provides industrial quality solutions across automotive, new energy, medical, and other sectors. The company operates more than 60 Quality Excellence Centers worldwide and employs over 2,000 technical experts, offering comprehensive measurement services ranging from calibration and inspection to failure analysis. Under the agreement, the two parties will co-establish the “JiYao-ZEISS Battery Quality Innovation Lab.” Leveraging ZEISS’s CT scanning and other advanced technologies, they will conduct in-depth validation of cell materials and structures and jointly develop next-generation battery inspection solutions. During production, JiYao Mobility will implement ZEISS’s battery quality inspection solutions to improve cell manufacturing precision and consistency. At the battery pack integration stage, high-precision inspection and non-destructive testing will be carried out to ensure system safety. In the after-sales phase, the partners will leverage ZEISS’s global network of quality centers to jointly build battery failure analysis capabilities in key overseas markets. Additionally, both sides will promote talent exchange, with JiYao Mobility sending core personnel to ZEISS’s headquarters in Germany for advanced training. This comprehensive collaboration spans the entire value chain—from R&D and manufacturing to after-sales service—and aims to meet international regulatory requirements, including the EU Battery Regulation, thereby supporting the high-quality, sustainable global expansion of China’s new energy battery industry.
