Xiaomi Unveils V8s EVO Super Motor: 28,000rpm Max Speed, Powers YU7 GT

Xiaomi Auto has unveiled its latest super motor, the V8s EVO, which debuts on the Xiaomi YU7 GT. The V8s EVO achieves a maximum rotational speed of 28,000 rpm—over 466 revolutions per second—and delivers a peak output of 611 PS from a single motor. Notably, it attains this high-speed capability without relying on special reinforcement methods like carbon fiber wrapping, instead achieving durability through structural optimization. Leveraging AI technology, Xiaomi performed topological optimization on the rotor’s silicon steel laminations, simulating over one million structural configurations to finalize a design meeting stringent strength requirements. The V8s EVO integrates Xiaomi’s self-developed silicon carbide (SiC) power module, capable of delivering an effective current of 800 A across the full voltage range. Its inverter achieves a peak power density of 120 kW/L, a 5.9% improvement over the previous generation. To enhance thermal management, the motor employs a novel packaging design that ensures stability under high-current operating conditions. Additionally, it uses ultra-thin stator and rotor silicon steel laminations just 0.15 mm thick—57% thinner than those in the V8s—reducing iron losses by 18.7%. Combined with Xiaomi’s proprietary X-Pin hairpin winding technology, which increases slot fill factor, copper losses are reduced by 3.6%, resulting in a peak efficiency of 98.38%. The Xiaomi YU7 GT features a dual-motor system comprising the rear-mounted V8s EVO and a front-mounted V6s Plus, delivering a combined maximum output of 1,003 PS. This setup enables a top speed of 300 km/h and accelerates the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.92 seconds (including launch time). In Eco mode, the front motor can be physically disconnected from the driveshaft and wheels via a decoupling mechanism, halting drive output to reduce energy consumption and extending CLTC-rated range by up to 20 km. In all other driving modes, the front motor remains engaged to provide enhanced power delivery and driving stability.
