In May 2024, Stellantis accelerated its partnership strategy in the Chinese market, first expanding its collaboration with Leapmotor and subsequently establishing a new partnership with Dongfeng Motor. Meanwhile, the company was also reported to be in talks with Chinese automakers FAW Hongqi and BYD regarding the potential sale or acquisition of overseas manufacturing plants. Previously, Stellantis had made six joint-venture attempts in China, five of which ended in failure, leaving it with a market share of less than 0.2% in the country.
