On May 28, BYD unveiled the Song Ultra DM-i in Shenzhen. Positioned as a B-segment plug-in hybrid SUV, the model is offered in five variants priced between RMB 129,900 and RMB 159,900. Notably, it introduces—for the first time in the RMB 130,000-class plug-in hybrid SUV segment—a version boasting a CLTC-rated all-electric range of 310 kilometers. Powered by BYD’s fifth-generation DM technology, the Song Ultra DM-i delivers a maximum combined range of up to 1,845 kilometers and a fuel consumption of just 3.3 L/100 km under low-battery conditions. Its powertrain combines a 1.5L engine (70 kW max power) with an electric motor (175 kW max power). The vehicle also features the Cloud Ride-C intelligent damping suspension system and TBC high-speed tire blowout stability control. Measuring 4,850 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height—with a wheelbase of 2,840 mm—the Song Ultra DM-i offers a “bed mode” in the rear cabin: both front and rear seats can be folded flat to create a spacious resting area. The front passenger seat—dubbed the “Queen’s Seat”—comes equipped with massage, ventilation, heating, and an electric leg rest. In terms of intelligent cockpit features, the Song Ultra DM-i is the first model in BYD’s Dynasty Series to debut the “Didi Xia” AI agent system. This system enables proactive interaction, greeting users and recommending content based on their habits. It supports natural-language or even vague-phrase commands to perform tasks such as finding restaurants, booking tickets, or playing movies and TV shows. Emphasizing the philosophy of “technology adapting proactively to people,” the system is slated for OTA rollout to select existing EV models. All trims come standard with over 100 features, including seven airbags, a panoramic sunroof with electric sunshade, a power tailgate, 19-inch alloy wheels, a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, power-adjustable front seats, wireless charging, and a dashcam. Higher-end variants add the premium “Sky Sound” 16-speaker audio system. Additionally, customers can opt for the “God’s Eye B” LiDAR-enabled advanced driver-assistance package, which supports automated parking and urban navigation assistance.
