At 6:30 a.m. on May 28, a Li Auto L9 Livis departed from Beijing with four passengers and 50 kg of equipment onboard, without any energy replenishment en route. With the air conditioning set to 24°C and driving exclusively on highways, the vehicle arrived in Shanghai within 16 hours, covering a total distance of 1,422.8 km. It traveled 327.4 km in pure electric mode before the range extender activated at a remaining battery level of 3%. The journey also included over an hour of driving on Shanghai’s urban ring roads after arrival. In real-world city driving tests in Beijing, the vehicle achieved a pure electric range of 460.9 km at an average speed of 58 km/h, representing a range achievement rate of 109.7%. Under highway conditions, its pure electric range was 327.4 km at an average speed of 100.7 km/h. Test results showed a highway fuel consumption of 6 L/100 km when operating in range-extender (fuel) mode. At current fuel prices, this translates to approximately ¥0.5 per kilometer in fuel costs, compared to roughly ¥0.4 per kilometer for electricity usage on highways. Additionally, the new L9 Ultra model features Li Auto’s self-developed third-generation 1.5T range extender, delivering a maximum power output of 115 kW and a thermal efficiency of 40.5%. Its WLTC-rated fuel consumption is 6.3 L/100 km—nearly 20% lower than the previous generation. Significant NVH improvements have been made to the range extender, which produces less than 0.1 dB of noise upon startup, rendering it virtually imperceptible inside the cabin.
