TDK Corporation has launched the Micronas HAL 13xy series—dual-output, 3D Hall-effect switch sensors that are factory-programmable and designed for speed and direction detection in automotive and industrial applications. Leveraging 3D HAL technology, this sensor series integrates three orthogonally arranged Hall elements (X, Y, Z) within a single pixel cell, enabling simultaneous measurement of two magnetic field components and generating quadrature output signals with a 90° phase shift. This phase-shift characteristic remains unaffected by variations in pole pitch or air gap, significantly enhancing layout flexibility. In automotive applications, the HAL 13xy series can be used in seat track motors, sunroof drives, tailgate motors, valve position sensing, steering column motors, steering turn-count detection, and anti-pinch window lift systems. Mass production of the series is scheduled to begin in October 2026.
