On May 30, 2024, BYD released the detailed terms of its "Safety Net Service" for the CNOA City Navigation feature of its "God’s Eye" advanced driver-assistance system. This service applies to vehicles equipped with the God’s Eye A or B systems. In the event of an at-fault accident occurring while the user is properly using the CNOA City Navigation function, BYD will cover direct economic losses, including damage to the insured vehicle, third-party property damage, and expenses related to personal injury. This service does not replace mandatory traffic insurance (compulsory third-party liability insurance) or commercial auto insurance, nor does it cover other driver-assistance features such as ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control), ICC (Integrated Cruise Control), or highway navigation functions. Eligible users include new owners who purchase God’s Eye A/B-equipped vehicles before May 28, 2027, as well as existing owners who upgrade their systems via OTA to God’s Eye version 5.0. A benefits card will be automatically issued to the user’s BYD App Benefits Center, valid for one year, tied to the vehicle rather than the owner, and available regardless of whether the user is the original owner or the actual driver—provided they have completed the required assisted-driving training and passed the associated exam. In the event of an accident, users must report the incident to the police and obtain an official liability determination from traffic authorities, while preserving all on-site evidence. If the vehicle is found at fault, users are advised to file claims simultaneously with both their auto insurer and BYD’s official customer service. Once BYD’s after-sales team confirms the case meets the Safety Net Service criteria, the user may withdraw their insurance claim without affecting their premium rates for the following year. Required documentation includes dashcam footage, the official accident liability report, driver’s license, and vehicle registration certificate. This Safety Net Service requires no additional payment from users, offers unlimited compensation, and will not impact the user’s insurance premium rates in the subsequent year.
