In April 2026, China, the United States, the European Union, Japan, the United Kingdom, Australia, South Korea, New Zealand, and Canada collectively issued 273 automotive recalls, affecting a total of 5.0659 million vehicles (specific figures were not disclosed by the EU and New Zealand). During the same period, there were 511 consumer product recalls involving 13.6289 million units. By component category, instrument panels, lighting, and auxiliary devices accounted for 55 recalls (20.15%); body and interior components accounted for 31 recalls (11.36%); and other categories accounted for 29 recalls (10.62%). By brand origin, U.S.-based brands led with 111 recalls (40.66% of the total), totaling 2.5945 million vehicles (51.21% of the total recalled volume). European brands followed with 89 recalls (32.60%), amounting to 976,300 vehicles (19.27%). Japanese brands accounted for 38 recalls (13.92%), covering 1.0437 million vehicles (20.60%).
