BYD recently clarified rumors circulating online about its in-house developed humanoid robot, explicitly denying claims regarding a codename "Yao Shun Yu," testing of a seventh-generation prototype, and plans to deploy 20,000 units internally within the year, stating that all such information is false. However, Li Ke, Executive Vice President of BYD, confirmed that the company is indeed engaged in humanoid robot development. She explained that this initiative leverages BYD’s existing technological expertise in intelligent driving, sensor fusion, and motor control, enabling seamless technology transfer. Li also outlined two commercialization pathways for the company’s robotics efforts: in-house manufacturing and open-platform collaborations, noting that BYD’s nationwide dealer network would provide support. Currently, several automakers—including Tesla, XPeng, and Xiaomi—have entered the humanoid robotics space. With its robust manufacturing infrastructure and supply chain capabilities, BYD is well-positioned to establish a complete closed-loop ecosystem, scaling from in-factory deployment to household sales once the product matures.
