On June 8, FAW-Volkswagen officially launched the pre-sale of the Magotan PHEV, with a pre-sale price range of RMB 174,900 to RMB 199,900. The company simultaneously introduced seven limited-time pre-sale benefits, including a RMB 1,000 deposit redeemable for RMB 3,000 off the purchase price, a complimentary charging station, and a high-residual-value buyback program. The vehicle is expected to officially launch in the second quarter. In terms of exterior design, the Magotan PHEV retains the overall styling of its gasoline-powered counterpart but features blue-accented grille slats and lower bumper trim, along with prominent “PHEV” badges on both the front grille and rear to highlight its new energy identity. The car measures 4,990 mm in length, 1,854 mm in width, and 1,491 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,872 mm—dimensions nearly identical to those of the gasoline version. For intelligent driving assistance, the new model is equipped with the Xingyun Intelligent Driving Assistance System, which supports multi-level memory parking over distances up to 2 kilometers. It can learn, memorize, and automatically replicate up to 15 fixed routes. Additionally, it offers 100-meter trace-back reversing and remote parking capabilities. Powering the vehicle is FAW-Volkswagen’s “Golden Super Hybrid” powertrain architecture, combining the EA211 dedicated hybrid engine with the TQ251 hybrid-specific transmission, delivering mechanical transmission efficiency exceeding 97%. Featuring a dual-motor, full-range super hybrid configuration, the Magotan PHEV achieves a CLTC-rated all-electric range of over 140 km and a combined range of up to 1,510 km. It also supports 50 kW DC fast charging.
