Data released on June 8, 2026, showed that in the first five months of 2026, Geely Galaxy Starship led China's new energy vehicle (NEV) retail sales with 160,800 units sold, followed by the Tesla Model Y at second place with 133,859 units, and the Li Auto i6 ranking third with 98,990 units. The Xiaomi SU7 came in fourth with 90,235 units. The Fangchengbao Bao 7, BYD Sealion 06, and NIO ES8 ranked fifth through seventh, respectively, each selling nearly 70,000 units. Rounding out the top ten were the BYD Yuan UP, Aito M7, and Wuling Hongguang MINIEV, which placed eighth to tenth with sales of 64,725, 62,799, and 60,342 units, respectively. SUVs dominated the top ten list, spanning various segments including family-oriented, commuter, and premium models. Apart from the Tesla Model Y, all other vehicles in the top ten were domestic Chinese brands.
