American electric vehicle maker Rivian has officially begun delivering its midsize R2 SUV to retail customers and has started sending vehicle configuration and ordering invitations to existing reservation holders. The R2, first unveiled in March 2024, is positioned as a more affordable model aimed at broadening access to Rivian’s design, performance, and technology. The first R2 vehicles rolled off the production line at Rivian’s Normal, Illinois factory in April 2024 and were initially delivered to company employees. Following completion of necessary testing and validation, the vehicle is now being delivered to retail customers.
