FAW Hongqi's first rugged off-road model, the G919, has appeared in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s (MIIT) 408th batch of new vehicle announcements, offered exclusively with a range-extended electric powertrain. The vehicle measures 5,135 mm in length, 2,050 mm in width, and 1,950 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. It is equipped with 275/60R20 tires and has a curb weight of either 3,150 kg or 3,175 kg. A towing package is available as an option, allowing a maximum trailer weight of 2,500 kg. The G919 features two variants of ternary lithium batteries supplied by Hubei EVE Power Co., Ltd.—one with a capacity of 62.9 kWh (1C) and the other at 64.1 kWh (1/3C)—delivering a pure-electric range of 220 km and supporting external charging. The range extender is provided by FAW Qixin Power (Changchun) Technology Co., Ltd., with model number CA4GC20TDH-43 and a maximum output of 160 kW. The chassis, designated CA2040H6REEVTX, is manufactured by FAW Group. In terms of design, the G919 adopts a “boxy” silhouette, featuring rectangular headlights, a bull bar, recovery points, tow hooks, a roof platform, spotlights, a rear-mounted spare tire carrier (“little backpack”), and all-terrain (AT) tires. A roof-mounted LiDAR sensor suggests support for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). The vehicle made its debut at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. According to the official explanation, the name “G919” carries symbolic meaning: “G” stands for “Guo Che” (national car) backbone, “9” signifies its flagship status and comprehensive service capabilities, and “1” underscores its top-tier product performance.
