Li Auto Teams Up with CATARC to Launch Smart Chassis Standards Group, Advancing Drive-by-Wire Technology

The "4th Intelligent Chassis Technology and Standards & Regulations Seminar," hosted by the China Automotive Standardization Institute of China Automotive Technology & Research Center Co., Ltd. (CATARC) and organized by Li Auto, was held in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, from June 10 to 11, 2026. During the event, CATARC’s Standardization Institute and Li Auto jointly established the Advanced Standards Research Group for Intelligent Vehicle Chassis, in collaboration with leading industry enterprises and top universities. Liao Mengjun, Vice President of R&D Operations at Li Auto, stated at the conference that the chassis will become a critical foundation for the intelligent capabilities of the entire vehicle. Li Auto has equipped its new model, the L9 Livis, with a full-by-wire chassis integrating three core technologies: steer-by-wire, rear-wheel steering, and EMB (Electro-Mechanical Brake) brake-by-wire systems—marking the world’s first “complete” full-by-wire chassis. The new Li Auto L9 Livis measures 5,255 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,810 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm, and is priced at RMB 509,800. It features Li Auto’s fully in-house developed third-generation range extender, achieving a fuel consumption of 6.3 L/100 km under WLTC conditions, with range extender startup noise below 0.1 dB. The vehicle is also equipped with a 72.7 kWh 5C ultra-fast-charging battery, delivering a CLTC all-electric range of 420 km and a total combined range of 1,650 km.
