On June 13, BAIC Group and China Changan Automobile Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The two parties will collaborate in key areas including forward-looking technologies and emerging industries, green and low-carbon development, coordination of industrial and supply chains, and overseas market expansion, exploring new models of collaboration between central and local state-owned enterprises to drive high-quality development of China’s automotive industry. Currently, the global automotive industry is accelerating its transformation toward electrification, digital intelligence, and globalization. Competitive focus has shifted from standalone manufacturing capabilities to comprehensive competition centered on industrial chain integration, application of computing power and data, and ecosystem synergy. Against this backdrop, enhancing industry-wide resource coordination and deepening complementary strengths have become critical strategies for Chinese自主品牌 (domestic brands) to boost overall competitiveness and accelerate internationalization. Both BAIC Group and Changan Automobile are leading Chinese automakers and were among the first two companies nationwide to receive approval for L3-level autonomous driving vehicles. This partnership aims to leverage their respective strengths in technology R&D, industrial chain deployment, and overseas markets, promoting resource sharing, co-creation of value, and mutual success—jointly strengthening China’s homegrown automotive brands and supporting the transformation and upgrading of the nation’s automotive industry.
