On June 15, Li Xiang, founder, chairman, and CEO of Li Auto, unveiled the concept of "embodied intelligent vehicles" for the first time during the LivisDay Automotive Software and Artificial Intelligence Launch Event. He explained that traditional smart cars are primarily function-driven, whereas embodied intelligent vehicles differ fundamentally in terms of safety, capability, and efficiency. Li defined an embodied intelligent vehicle as an integrated "quadruple entity" comprising an electric vehicle, a professional driver, an AI computer, and a lifestyle assistant. In this framework, the electric vehicle and the AI computer form the "embodiment"—a physical entity equipped with sensors to perceive its environment and interact with the real world—while the professional driver and lifestyle assistant represent the "intelligence," reflecting an understanding of human behavior and providing supportive services. He emphasized that embodied intelligence differs from purely software-based AI like ChatGPT, as its core principle lies in the inseparability of mind and body, with cognition emerging from the interaction between the physical body and its environment. This concept marks a significant step forward in the evolution of smart vehicles toward higher levels of intelligence and human-centric design.
