On June 12, the smart #6 officially launched in China, offering three variants priced between RMB 177,900 and RMB 217,900. The vehicle is powered by a hybrid system combining a dedicated 1.5T turbocharged engine and an electric drive motor, delivering a maximum combined range of up to 1,810 kilometers. The new model features the “Qianli Haohan” intelligent driving system, which, according to the company, showcases significant improvements in algorithms and large AI models—particularly excelling in scenarios like automatic parking into mechanical parking spaces. The vehicle’s design was led by Mercedes-Benz’s German headquarters team, with deep involvement throughout from Mercedes-Benz China’s styling team to better align with Chinese market preferences. During the launch event, smart executives highlighted the brand’s extensive application of AI technologies in intelligent cockpits and intelligent driving systems. They also noted that AI tools have been deployed across multiple internal departments to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. The brand emphasized its core principles: “Designed with Love,” “Safety First,” and “Joyful Driving Experience.” Currently, smart operates in 41 countries worldwide under its “Dual-Core Strategy” focusing on both China and Europe. Sales in Europe are growing rapidly, while in China, the brand plans to introduce a mid-cycle refresh of the smart #1 and launch the highly anticipated smart #2, which has generated strong interest in the domestic market. Owner engagement and activity levels among existing customers have also risen noticeably.
