Documents from Maricopa County, Arizona, show that Waymo completed its acquisition on June 5, 2024, of a test facility in Wittmann for $220 million. The 5,500-acre site was sold by a Delaware-based shell company linked to Apple. The facility includes a 115-acre urban road testing area, a 35-acre vehicle dynamics testing zone, a four-mile-long oval track, and highway test scenarios specifically designed for autonomous driving. Originally owned by Fiat Chrysler, the site was purchased by Apple in 2021 for $125 million to test prototype vehicles for its "Project Titan." After investing billions of dollars in the project, Apple terminated it in early 2024.
